Rakuten is Canada’s most popular cash back website that allows you to receive cash back on online or store purchases and boasts of over 5 million members just in Canada.

The company was earlier known as Ebates before it was taken over and renamed as Rakuten. 

It  has been in business for almost 20 years now and provides its customers a way to earn substantial money.

If you want to purchase something on Amazon, you can go to the Rakuten website and sign in and click on the Amazon tab.

The Amazon shopping window will pop up and  you can  make your purchase as you normally would. 

You search for whatever item you want to buy, add it to your cart and pay . Since you clicked through Rakuten, it tracks the cookies on the website which ensure that you get cash back.

How do you get cash back on Ebates (Rakuten)?

Rakuten has partnered with all the companies listed on the website and gets a commission for every customer that logs in through their website.

So essentially you are receiving a portion of that commission as cash back.  Currently they have partnered with about 750 stores in Canada  and  2,500 stores in the US and they are  always adding to their library of shops.

You can also use Rakuten on gift cards. Rakuten has a separate gift card list of stores. If you have a purchase that you know you will be making then you can go to the Rakuten website and purchase the gift card and then use that to make your purchase and get cash back.

Sometimes the percentages will change on the stores and you might end up getting a bonus. Rakuten has a .ca website for Canada and a .com website for the USA.

You can use both these websites for cash backs. Another interesting thing about Rakuten is that you are recommended different stores that sell the same product but have different cash back percentages.

This allows you to choose the best deal. An added bonus is that you also get cash back on items that never go on sale. 

After you purchase any product the cash back that you received will be logged into your Rakuten account within 48 hours.

The amount will keep accumulating and you will receive a cheque or direct paypal transfer every three months. It should be noted that your total cash back amount should be more than $5 for you to receive it every three months.

If it is lesser than that then the amount will be carried forward until the next payment schedule. You can check your cash back balance and your purchase history on the website.

Signing up for Rakuten is free and quite easy.

All you need to do is provide your name and email address and you are set to go. You can also sign in through your facebook account.

You get a welcome cash bonus depending on where you reside. US citizens get $10 whereas Canadian citizens get $5. But there is a catch here.

You will only get your welcome bonus if you make a purchase worth $25 or more within 30 days of signing up.

You can access both Canadian and US stores and make purchases according to your preference. You will receive cash back for your two accounts separately.  

After signing up you can go to the all stores area which shows you all the stores alphabetically. After you shop you will get that percentage added to your big fat cheque. 

The cashback rate starts from 4.96 % and can go up to almost 25 %.

When you type in any store on your google search engine and go to it, Rakuten will immediately notify you about the cash back and percentage details that you can activate by the click of a button.

If you  use this then you don’t have to login to Rakuten everytime you want to make a purchase and it saves you time. You are also recommended potential stores you might be interested in depending on your shopping history.  

How to Get paid on Ebates (Rakuten)

There are a few ways  of getting paid on Ebates (Rakuten). These are:

-Cheque– You will receive a physical cheque on your postal address which is called the big fat cheque. It is only called as the big fat cheque but is of an appropriate size. You can go to your back and encash the cheque.

–Paypal– You can get money deposited in your paypal account directly. One thing that you have to keep in mind for this is to use the email address affiliated with your Paypal account while signing up. 

–Charity/Friends– You can also donate the money that you receive directly to charities or the person of your choice. This can be your friends or family

–Referral- Another easy way to earn money is to refer Rakuten to your friends and family members.

Each Rakuten member is assigned a referral link when they sign up. You can find your reference link and send it to as many people as you like.

After the person uses your link to sign up and make a purchase you will get your bonus reward.

If you refer to one person you get $5 and if you refer to two people you get $10 and also get a $40 bonus. If you refer two or more people you stand a chance to win more than $50.
