Tom Brady was born Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. on 3 August 1977 in San Mateo in California.
He is the youngest among 4 siblings and has three older sisters.
His mother Galynn Patricia is of German, Polish, Swedish, and Norwegian descent. His father Thomas Brady Sr. is of Irish descent. Tom’s ancestors were Irish refugees who moved to San Francisco from Boston right before the American Civil War.
Brady was a regular attendee of the San Francisco 49ers games from a very young age and saw Joe Montana who was one of his idols and inspirations.
When Brady was still a child, he joined the football camp of the College of San Mateo in which he learned how to throw the football.
He was a fan of both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics.
Brady completed his high school graduation in 1995 from Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. While in high school, he actively played football, baseball, and basketball.
His first stance at playing football for a team happened when he was a junior in high school. He was selected as the backup quarterback on the junior team because initially, he was not skilled enough to be on the team.
The team was also not in a good position after having not scored any touchdown the whole year.
Brady was brought in to play after the original quarterback was injured, and he was able to keep his position throughout the rest of his school years.
By the end of his senior year, his skills brought attention from various college coaches. He was being recruited by many colleges and he shortlisted 5 prospective colleges to attend.
He also played baseball in high school and was drafted into the 1995 MLB Draft. However, later he chose football over baseball. He joined the University of Michigan and played in the football team.

After joining the University of Michigan, he was initially a backup quarterback in the first two years.
