As the pandemic slowly wanes, lot of my friends (and me) have been thinking about resuming our travel plans that have been on my mind.
I’m planning to visit Michigan soon and I’d really like to view the Race to Mackinac after one of my friends shared a video when he was there.
Hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club, Race to Mackinac is the oldest annual freshwater distance race in the world and it is estimated that over 3000 sailors from different parts of the world take part in the race.
What interested me in the Race to Mackinac was not necessarily the race itself but the buildup to the race where the piers are home to thousands of vessels and all sailors get together the previous nights, have some beers and the atmosphere is that of a carnival.
Several folks like me would come to Chicago to watch the kick off to the Race to Mackinac which is 333-mile or 536 km journey.
