While growing up, he listened to a lot of artists like Mike Jones, Ying Yang Twins, Marilyn Manson, Smash Mouth, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, The Rocket Summer, to name a few.

He then went on to create a rap group with this classmate named William Aston and one more friend and called the group “Steaktown”.
The group was operational till Lil Uzi was 17 years old.
Soon after the group became dysfunctional, he dropped out of school and started working. He joined a Bottom Dollar store but quit working after 4 days.
His mother then threw him out of their house.
This was the event that led to him getting his first tattoo “Faith” placed under his hairline. He said this tattoo influenced him to pursue his rap career seriously.

His first EP was released in 2014 titled Purple Thoughtz Vol. 1. This album caught a lot of attention with the single named “White Shit”.
The album had a trippy vibe to it and was described to be “phonk”. His album managed to get the attention of Don Cannon, a producer after it was played on a local radio.
He was then signed with Atlantic Records. Under Atlantic Records, he featured in many tracks alongside other popular rappers and also was part of project groups.
