Why Does My Spotify Keep Pausing [Cause, Easy Fix]
If you are a fan of Spotify and you are used to listening a lot of Spotify music on your phone, then you might have run into an issue where Spotify keep pausing without any reason.
Actually, there are some reasons why Spotify Keep Pausing and here are some of the causes.
Table of Contents
Spotify App Cache issue
Cache is an extra space required by all applications to function normally. If you have been using lot of apps on the phone or these apps are running in the background, your cache might be limited which can cause Spotify to crash or even pause playing.
Network Issue ( Data Saver Mode )
Another very common reason for the Spotify app not working properly or the songs getting paused every few minutes could also be because of poor network connectivity. A stable network connection is required to play songs online or on Spotify, if the network connection is unstable, poor or weak or if the data saver mode is on then the Spotify app won’t receive the sufficient amount of data that it requires to play songs continuously and that is why Spotify will keep pausing.
Battery Saver Mode
Battery saver mode also causes Spotify to pause in between playing songs as Battery saver mode or low power mode prevents non-critical apps from functioning.
Battery saver mode disables all apps except the one that is active on the screen and this causes Spotify playing in the background to pause the playback.
Why does my Spotify keep pausing iphone
All of the reasons mentioned above are applicable for iphone and in some cases Spotify could be pausing on iphone could be because your background play option is disabled.
There are a few fixes for stopping the random pausing of Spotify. The fixes are as follows :
Sign out from everywhere and Login again
Signing out of the Spotify app from everywhere and all the devices and logging in again might solve the problem of Spotify getting paused again and again. To do this follow the steps mentioned below :
- Go to Spotify’s official website and log into your account from there.
- Go to your Spotify’s profile tab.
- Now scroll down and you will see the option of ‘Sign out from everywhere’ click on it to sign out from everywhere or every device in which your Spotify is logged in.
- Wait for sometime and re-login your Spotify on the device you wish to.
Use Different Network
If the network connection is poor, unstable or weak, then this can also use Spotify to get paused again and again as the app will not be receiving enough data that it requires to function smoothly.
So to solve the problem of Spotify getting paused again and again try changing your network connection to any other strong network connection.
Turn off Low Power Mode
Low power mode also called battery saver mode also causes Spotify to pause in between playing songs as low power mode disables all apps and only allows critical functions on the phone.
To turn off the low power mode follow the steps below :
On iOS :
- Open the Settings app on your iOS.
- Scroll down and find the ‘Battery’ option. Click open it.
- There on the top you will see the option of ‘Low power mode’
- If the button next to it is green then know that the lower power mode is switched on.
- Click on the button and it will turn off.
On Android :
- Open the Setting app on your Android device.
- Scroll down and you will see the ‘battery saver’ option. Click on it.
- Click on the ‘battery’ option.
- Turn off the ‘Power saver’ button.
Turn off Data Saver Mode
If the network connection is unstable, poor or weak then Spotify will not have necessary bandwidth to load songs and play them continuously.
To turn off the Data saver mode follow the steps mentioned below :
- Open Settings on your phone
- Tap Network and Internet. Data Saver.
- Turn off data saver
Restart Phone
Sometimes your Spotify app might be pausing due to some other apps running in the background or other glitches within the OS.
In such cases, you can solve the problem by restarting the phone.
You can try to close the Spotify app also from background and re-open it and if this does not help then Restart your device.
Update Spotify and device
Sometimes the pausing of the Spotify app could also be because of the fact that either the Spotify app is not updated or the device in which you are using the Spotify app is not updated to the latest version.
As app versions get older, updates are essential for apps to function seamlessly.
You can try updating the Spotify app either from Google play store or Apple app store and your device updates are avail in the settings app. When both of these will be up to date there will be no lagging or pausing in the Spotify app.
Reinstall Spotify
If the restarting of your device or app doesn’t work then you should definitely try uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your device.
If there is any technical issue or internal glitch in the app then reinstalling it again will give it a fresh start.
Just press and hold the Spotify app and the option will come to ‘uninstall’ the app, click on it and the app will get deleted from the device then you can instantly put the app for installation from Google play store or Apple app store.
Check Audio devices like Headphones or Airpods
If you are listening to songs on Headphones, Airpods or any speaker and if the song is pausing again and again and none of the above fixes worked then you should definitely check your Headphones or Airpods or speakers.
Maybe there could be some problem such as speakers getting disconnected or pause button getting pressed on the audio devices because of which the songs playing on Spotify are pausing again and again.
You can try with a headphone that you know is working properly and try.
